MPMS & MAIP - Multicultural student opportunities
Two of the top advertising organizations (American Advertising Federation (AAF) and 4A’s Foundation) have strengthened their efforts in recent years to foster the development of diverse and multicultural talent by giving students more opportunities to break into the field no matter their connections. If you identify as multicultural and are looking into opportunities for the spring and summer, here is what you need to know about two of the biggest programs for students of color: the Most Promising Multicultural Students program (MPMS) and the Multicultural Advertising Internship Program (MAIP).
The AAF’s Most Promising Multicultural Students program connects the advertising industry with the nation’s top multicultural college seniors. This experience provides opportunities to recruit fresh talent and further prepare the advertising industry’s best young prospects. Open to AAF national members, the application asks students to answer essay questions and express how they aim to make an impact in the advertising industry. Every year, the chosen students meet with top industry professionals for an exclusive recruitment event and receive an award honoring their work and dedication in New York. The deadline is October 15th, 2021.
Many TXST students have participated in the 4A’s Foundation’s MAIP program over the years. This 22-week, virtual and in-agency, nation-wide fellowship program places fellows in internship positions across the country and provides professional development opportunities, from one-on-one coaching to virtual spring training. Applicants must identify as a person of color, multiracial or multicultural, and complete an application with essays and a video to be considered. The deadline is November, 12th, 2021.
You can check out their websites for more information and their respective applications. The application for the 2022 MPMS application closes on October 15th and the 2022 MAIP fellowship closes on November 12th, 2021.
